(April 23-26)
• Firefighters responded to 16 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to a report of wires down on Harris Street. They found telephone lines down and they were not in the roadway.
• Firefighters responded to Felder Street to a report of a possible structure fire. An outlet behind the refrigerator was arcing. They cut off the breaker to the kitchen and removed the outlet from the wall. The occupant was advised to contact an electrician.
• Firefighters responded to Starlight Circle to someone being locked inside. They gained access through a window.
• Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire on South Lee Street where they found a vehicle fully engulfed in fire. They extinguished it.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on U.S. Highway 19 North. Upon arrival, Sumter County Fire & Rescue was on scene and determined someone was cooking sausage and smoked up the house.
• Firefighters responded to Crawford Street to a traffic accident.
• Firefighters responded to a tree down on Glessner Street. They found a large tree limb on a power line. Georgia Power was contacted. A tree service cleared the tree limb off the line and fire personnel assisted in clearing roadway of limbs and cutting them up with a chain saw.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Fulton Street. Smoke was a result of cooking.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at West Church and Forrest streets.
