Ellaville Methodist Wesleyan Group meets
The Ellaville United Methodist Church Wesleyan Group met at 7 p.m. June 3 in the church Social Hall.
Sharon Wall called the meeting to order, and Ann Gill opened with prayer.
Minutes were approved from the last meeting. After the business meeting, Sharon Wall gave the program “Father’s Day.”
Brenda Phillips was hostess, and served a delicious Million Dollar Pie and several beverages of choice.
The Methodist Charge Conference was being held June 2-5 in Columbus, which was attended by lots of local members.

Schley Board of Health has quarterly meeting
On June 5, the Schley County Board of Health held its quarterly meeting in the Schley County Department of Family and Children Services’ conference room.
Chairman Nancy McMath Young called the meeting to order, and Brian Hall opened with prayer.
Minutes were approved as read.
The District director’s report was given by Asante Hilts in the absence of Dr. Beverly Townsend.
Schley County Health Nurse Kristy Smith gave the nursing report.
The Environmental Health report was given by Lincoln Mitchell on food services inspections, sewage management, rabies, and water supplies, among other topics.
The fiscal report was given by Berta Cox. The board voted to accept the fiscal year budget.
Board members were given special rules and regulations on environmental health, water, and land lot sizes which are in line with the state.
Plans have been made in case of a disaster or other emergency. Schley County Board of Education Superintendent Brian Hall has agreed to share the middle and high school facilities with the
Schley County Board of Health for an emergency. The chairman and Hall signed the District papers.
Next board meeting will be Sept. 18 and is open to the public.
Ellaville-Schley Historic Society board meets
On June 6, the Ellaville-Schley County Historical Society board held its annual meeting.
President Nancy McMath Young called the meeting to order, and Wilbur Justice opened with prayer.
Secretary Susan DeVane and Treasurer Sharon Watson gave their reports.
Special events were discussed. One big event is the yearly auction and barbecue supper. A special singing is before the auction. This event begins at 5 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Thomas Edwin Wall Post 191 American Legion. This special event is a major fundraiser for the historic society.
The historic society is updating its history book and needs photos. You don’t have to be a member to submit something for the book about local history.
