AMERICUS — Kevin Butler, president of D&DSK, a long-time Smoothie King franchisee, has announced that he’ll be opening the latest Smoothie King in Americus. “We’re thrilled to be coming to Americus. With all the wonderful things that are going on in the area, it presented a golden opportunity for us that we had to jump on,” said Butler. The building at 113 Prince St. in Americus is undergoing a complete renovation. Plans include keeping the iconic look and feel of the 1950s gas station that has been on the site, preserving some of Americus’ history and extending the revitalization of Americus’ unique downtown area.

Smoothie King has a long history of promoting health and fitness. The company’s mission is to inspire people to live a healthy and active lifestyle and to be an integral part of every health and fitness journey. With that in mind, Smoothie King has partnered with Workout Anytime in Americus to provide a discount for Workout Anytime members. “Working with a company like Smoothie King is a natural fit for us,” said Elieth Fox, general manager of Workout Anytime. “I’m very excited to be able to exercise and then head over to Smoothie King for a post-workout smoothie,” commented Fox. “As a matter of fact, we have created three Workout Anytime-branded smoothies that are specifically designed to fuel a workout recovery,” added Butler.

Smoothie King has been warmly received by the City of Americus. Mayor Barry Blount commented, “We’re very appreciative of Smoothie King’s investment in the community, the jobs that it’s bringing, and what it will contribute to our economic vitality.” According to Butler, while there have been no formal discussions yet, Smoothie King plans to reach out to the city’s two higher education institutions to see what it can do to make it easy for students to access another healthy eating option and further enjoy and be a part of Americus’ vibrant downtown community.

An early 2020 opening is planned. Details will be announced as they become available. “We can’t wait!” added Butler.
