Lady Panthers stay undefeated with win at Northside (Columbus)

COLUMBUS – The Americus-Sumter Lady Panthers (ASHS) wasted no time in deciding the outcome of their game against the Lady Patriots of Northside (Columbus). They jumped out to a 24-3 lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 57-23 victory over the Lady Patriots on Tuesday, January 7, at Northside (Columbus) High School (NCHS).

Two ASHS players scored in double figures. Tiffani Goodman led the Lady Panthers in scoring with 20 points and Trinity Jones poured in 18. Jelissa Reese chipped in nine points. DeAsia Ford scored eight and Divine White chipped in two points to round out the Lady Panthers’ scoring.

With the victory, ASHS is now 13-0 on the season and 6-0 in the Region 1-AAAA standings. NCHS falls to 3-13 on the season and is now 1-9 in Region 1-AAA play.

Erica Rodriguez led the Lady Patriots in scoring with six points. Both Daijah Chandler and A’niyah Walker each chipped in five points in the losing cause.

The Lady Panthers will face their toughest opponent so far this season on Friday, January 10, when they lock horns with Carver (Columbus); the defending GHSA Class AAAA State Champions. The Lady Tigers are currently 7-0 in the Region 1-AAAA standings. Tip off from Americus-Sumter High School is scheduled for 6 p.m.
