A program commemorating the birthday of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was held Monday at the Sumter County Courthouse. Seen in the background is the door to the jail cell in the Sumter County Jail where King was housed after being arrested here during the civil rights movement in the 1960s. The jail door is to be permanently affixed in a protective environment and will have an historical marker from the state.
