Americus (January 1, 2015) – The first baby of the new year arrived a little bit after noon in Sumter County.

Tyler Devon Wilborn was born at 12:18 pm at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center to the parentage of Shateria Williams and Antonio Wilborn.  Tyler weighed in at 7 pounds and 5 ounces and 21 inches long. 

According to the mother, she was not expecting to have the New Year’s baby. 

“My due date was January 1 and everyone was telling me I would have the New Year’s baby, but I didn’t think it would happen,” said Shateria.  “I actually wanted to have him before the start of the year, but I am happy that he is here and it is great that he is the first baby born.”

As the New Year’s baby, little Tyler will receive a plaque and gifts from the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.
