Americus Police Department asking for information on shooting

Shooting On May 14th at approximately 3:58 PM officers of the Americus Police Department were dispatched to the 1036 E Forsyth Street in Americus to a reported shooting. The victim, identified as Michael Gage Grimes, age 17 of Americus, was transported to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center by EMS where he was stabilized and then flown to a trauma center for further treatment. The victim drove to the location where he was found in a black Ford Fusion. The Americus Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Sumter County Sheriff Office to investigate this incident. Anyone who saw a black Ford Fusion driving in the area of Mayo Street at the time of the incident, or who has additional information related to this investigation is asked to call the Americus Police Department at 229-924-3677 or after business hours at 229-937-9011.
