At approximately 2:45 AM Saturday morning, the Sumter County Sheriff’s office received a shots fired call in the vicinity of Main St. Desoto. Emergency personnel found a large group gathered on Main Street. A victim with a gunshot wound was taken to the emergency room and another wounded at the scene had previously been taken by a private vehicle. One of the victims was life-flighted to Albany. By 12:30 one of the victims was pronounced deceased.

The Sheriff’s department is asking anyone with information to contact the Sumter County Sherrif’s Office at 229-924 -4094 or the Georgia Bureau of Investigations office at 229-931-2439. Names of both victims are being withheld until family have been contacted.
