The Knights of Columbus hosted a dinner at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church on July 26, raising money for seminary students. A large gathering enjoyed hotdogs and hamburgers. Several seminary students spoke after the meal, giving introductions and thanks to those gathered to support them. Seminarian Fred Williams extoled those gathered, telling how through their generosity and prayers the students were able to train as priests.

Father Brett Brannen, Vicar of Priestly Life and Vocations for the Diocese of Savannah, is the mentor for the seminarians. He told how Pope Francis had changed the program of formation. Before the priests even engage in study, they are taught how to pray, coming to know Jesus and themselves. He told how the first year prepared them for the next 6 to 7 years ahead, with two years of discipleship and 4 years of theology.

The seminarians in attendance were Benjamina Aler, Jared Miller, Fred Williams, Stephen Owusu Dwamena, Gilbert Ofori Mensah, Deacon Kevin Braski and Noah Pace. A raffle was also held including pews, a TV, and a gift basket.
