The ribbon cutting for the renovated Hudson House in Plains was held on August 17th. Milton Hudson was one of the earliest residents of Plains, and The Hudson House, at the intersection of Church and Bond Street, is the oldest house in Plains. Kim Fuller, director of The Friends of Jimmy Carter, addressed those gathered, thanking the volunteers who helped to refurbish the house. She told how the restored building would be called The Rosalynn Carter Arts Center at the Hudson House. Allethea Wall, Rosalynn Carter’s sister, cut the ribbon.

Volunteers from Saint Paul in Columbus Georgia worked to restore the historic building. 8th grader Case Carver shared his experiences from the restoration. “We restored it back in July, and it was a really fun time. The house was not good looking at the start, but we like, rebuilt the shed, we built a deck, and we painted and we did some landscaping.”

Logan Ogletree, a youth director at Saint Paul, talked about the experience. “I was very proud of the kids, putting hard work into the house.”
