Kairos Pemos, Horne Pecan, The Alley, Koinonia Farms, and the Spot, which had mechanical bull riding, were all represented at Taste of Sumter along with several other venues. The event was rescheduled to October 8. Booths were set up in a portion of Jackson Street that had been blocked off by the Windsor.

The Sweet Spot Baking Company, which has one location at 841 Elm Ave, also had a booth for Taste of Sumter. Owner Emily Simpson told what it was like getting into the baking business. “It was a lot of work, it was a lot of recipe testing, and a lot of tasting, and gaining weight.”

She talked about the desserts they had to offer at Taste of Sumter. “We have brownies, pound cakes, sweet potato pies, donut holes, cheese cakes that we are known for, and an assortment of cookies.”

Simpson talked about Taste of Sumter. “It’s a really great event. It’s nice to see the turnout since it was rescheduled and I hope that people will stop by our table.”

She shared what it was like being in the baking industry. “It’s hard work. Show appreciation and enjoy all our hard work.”

Firefighter Charlie Kress shared his experiences at Taste of Sumter. “It was pretty cool to see all the vendors, all the people here, good community.”

When asked if he had gotten to taste anything, he replied; “I got a cookie. I ain’t tried it yet, but I’ve heard it’s really good.” He did mention enjoying the music. Musicians included Patrick Owen, Kia Lundy, and a band called The Palace Jesters.
