Eva Claire Rees, 81, of Preston, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024 surrounded by her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on in those who knew her. She was born on September 24, 1943 in Americus, Ga to the late Paul and Alva Mae Drew.
Eva Claire had a passion for cooking and trying new recipes. She loved her flowers and always wanted to go out on “Good Friday” to get hanging baskets to place on her porch. She was a traveler and enjoyed going to Nashville to see the “Grand Ole Opry.” She was the Office Manager at Prestec-Cooper Lightning in Preston, where she retired after 31 years of dedication, to be able to enjoy and take care of her grandson Conner and in later years she enjoyed giving special treats to her grand-fur babies, Penny and Oscar.
A Graveside Service will be held Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Preston City Cemetery with Bro. Raymond Smith officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. Honorary pallbearers will include Darrell Holbrook, Guy Wiggins, Eric Drew, and all past employees of Prestec-Cooper Lightning.
Survivors include her three children, Cheryl Claire Rees of Pine Mountain, Rhonda and Tim Holbrook of Preston; grandson, Conner James Holbrook (Taylor Harnage) of Preston; a brother Wayne Drew (Judy); also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years James Rees.
