ASCMRC updates on rehabilitation of the Americus Colored Hospital Building

As promised in the first edition of our Community Newsletter, the ASCMRC will continue to inform and empower you with current updates on the progress of the rehabilitation of the Americus Colored Hospital Building. The first phase in now complete which involved the critical work of stabilizing the buildings foundation, adding new interior beams and joists to provide additional support needed for the increased use when the building opens as the Americus Civil Rights and Cultural Center. Every inch of the original pine flooring has been removed and will be restored and re-installed. A new roof will replace the old one and the front porch will be restored to its original
condition.
Our architectural design team remains confident that the project is now progressing as it should with no foreseeable delays in second-phase interior construction. Periodic meetings between them and our Grant Team have allowed us to give you a glimpse of how the re-imagined facility may evolve.
Thank you for your support and be well.
