Panthers, Lady Panthers advance to elite eight

The Americus-Sumter Panthers and Lady Panthers each pulled in solid victories in the sweet 16 round of the AAAA class state playoffs this weekend.
On Feb. 20, the Lady Panthers hosted the Pickens County Dragonettes, pulling in a 58-40 victory in the match. With the victory, the Lady Panthers earned a spot in the elite eight and will host Carrolton on Feb. 24. The Lady Panthers currently hold a 29-1 overall record.
The Panthers traveled to Cartersvile to face the top-seeded Cartersville Hurricanes on Feb. 21. The exciting match resulted in a 54-33 Panther victory. The Panthers will travel to Hinesville on Feb. 25 to battle Liberty County and attempt to earn a spot in the final four. The Panthers’ overall record currently stands at 26-5.
